Myofascial Release Kit, Yoga Blocks, Props Franklin Methode and ChiBall ® Self care methods and Therapeutic Techniques by using props
In the classroom and online sessions, we use props for many benefits such as modifications and adjustments.
The Myofascial Release Kit by Art of Motion is designed to be the ultimate release buddy for any Movement Participant or Educator of Movement. The Tool Set is fantastic. With it you are perfectly equipped for all fascia- focused exercises and variations.
It contains:
Kneeling Pad, 2 Slings Myofascial Massage Balls, 2 Slings Myofascial Massage Domes and
2 Slings Myofascial Trigger Balls.
This kit will help to stimulate fascia and muscles, promote the hydration and glide of your fascia, release myofascial tension, improve proprioception and it can help to calm the nervous system. When applied correctly it will increase mobility and flexibility, allowing gentle sensory stimulation and increased stability and strength. Perfect for home, studio and a great tool kit to take on a holiday to stay limber and keep the fascia well hydrated. Karin Gurtner, Switzerland, is the founder of the Myofascial Release Kit and her props have been my companions for many years.
Yoga Block, described as a Yoga brick, is a rectangular foam, cork or bamboo block. At Create Movement we use the bamboo blocks as props to assist balancing and support. They can be used for a variety of uses in any Yoga Asana practice at home. The Yoga Block was first introduced by B. K. S. Iyengar to assist with alignment and to help users to reach new potential, allowing versatility in Movement Practice that includes: bridge gap, support of body weight and building strength. In the movement sessions it is important to accept a prop to avoid miss alignment and injury.
Favourite Poses at Sessions taught at Create Movement with the use of a Yoga Block:
-Extended Side- Angle Pose (Utthita Parshvakonasna)
-Camel Pose (Ushtrasana)
-Fish Pose (Matsyasana)
- Boat Pose (Paripurna Navasana)
I love using the Yoga Block! The first time I came across a Yoga Block was in Margaret River, at the Yoga School. Iyengar Yoga was the style of practice and it helped me immensely to improve my practice because it’s a powerful prop, used to give support, strength and empowerment. In today’s Movement world we find the ‘humble’ Yoga Block in many studios.
Eric Franklin offers multipurpose props ideal for balance, proprioceptive tools, and for mat class support.
What is it with the Swiss People? Karin Gurtner and Eric Franklin, both created mind and body methods and concepts. With them also came some fantastic props with the aim of improving movement, posture and psychological health. There must be something in the Swiss Water!
I love them both! Both are exceptional Movement Educators and their books are
jampacked with information about fascia, nervous system, effects on body and mind and skilful explanations about how to use the props and imagery!
Most of you Movement Peeps at Create Movement own an Eric Franklin prop or at least have been introduced to them in the weekly classes. With each session we explore more functionality and the versatile use of these props: tapping the body, roll and release while exploring the mental stimulation that you can experience with the imagery cues that all of us need to sense and feel, to improve movement performance.
Another prop that I cherish is the ChiBall ®. It’s the colours that I like. It not only attracts visually but heightens the senses with the Chi Aroma. I have been a fan of these amazing balls for many years. If time allows I am always up for a movement practice to create flow, and bring some harmony into the practice. The program is based on traditional Chinese Medicine. I can say that ladies and gentlemen in their 80’ and 90’s, as well as people of all ages, have greatly benefited from the balls. They improve balance, agility and posture as well as the ability to concentrate and to relax. I also love the combination of Yoga, Pilates, Feldenkrais and Tai Chi. I have had many movement professionals and athletes falling in love with the Chi Ball.
So what is so special about them?

Last but least: I do have another prop that I use at home for daily use; it is called the Yamuna Face ball. The effects are a healthier skin tone. It calms the facial muscles and I believe that Yamuna the acclaimed body practicioner, (USA), has been one of the first to offer Myofascial Release Props to the Movement World. She is certainly the Master Teacher of body sustainability.
By the way: I sell all the props listed on this blog. Hit me up for a chat, and I will guide you through the world of props and their benefits on good alignment and postural balance.
